Waiguoren! The Foreigner Song

Here are the lyrics to the song Mr Wang and I performed. You can add a rhythm to it by clapping your hands to a simple, 2/2 beat.

Since living in China I have a new name,
Its not Sophia or Cathy, or even the same.
It’s something really different that the people call me;
Don’t know how to explain it but it fits me to a T.

I’m Waiguoren! I don’t speak Chinese!
I’m Waiguoren from my head to my feet.
I’m Waiguoren! I like to eat cheese!
I’m Waiguoren! Waiguoren!

When I go out on the street the people look at me strange
‘Cause I’m tall and I’m blond and I don’t look the same.
The people get all freaky and they point and they stare,
Then they call me that name, thinking that I don’t care!

I’m Waiguoren! I don’t speak Chinese!
I’m Waiguoren from my head to my feet.
I’m Waiguoren! I like to eat cheese!
I’m Waiguoren! Waiguoren!

But my students all love me, they think I’m chill and I’m cool.
I make such a big splash all over the school!
They come by my house so they can ‘hang’ with me;
I’m Waiguoren! That’s how they know me!

When we go out they take me by the hand,
‘Cause they think that I need help and I don’t know where I am.
How can I tell them I think its weird but it’s cute;
I don’t speak Chinese so mostly I’m mute!

I’m Waiguoren! I don’t speak Chinese!
I’m Waiguoren from my head to my feet.
I’m Waiguoren! I like to eat cheese!
I’m Waiguoren! Waiguoren!
